Yoga Narasimha Temple, Melukote

                                         Situated at a height of 1777 meters above the sea level, Yoga Narasimha Temple at Melukote is a historic temple that attracts devotees due to its architectural beauty, serene surroundings and religious significance. The temple houses an idol of Narasimha in a seated position, Yogamudra along with Lakshmi. 

                                             This temple is on hill top with about 365 stairs. One may take the path right from first stair starting from the Melkote Kalyani or after a road which covers around 100 steps. The stairs are steep and one should be careful while climbing. There are many rest points for elders, who may taste the butter milk, ice creams on the way up. The Temple has two square sanctums with 2 gopuras. The entrance gopura is the highest one and is visible to far off places, while the main sanctum gopura is visible only on entering the temple. The inner sanctums are supported with plain stone pillars. 

                                         From the roof of the temple, one can see Melukote spread out below. It is believed that the image of Yoga Narasimha temple at melkote was installed by Prahlada himself. Krishnaraja Wodeyar III presented a gold crown to Lord Yoga Narasimha. Beneath the temple is a small cave, just under the deity, where Prahlada is said to have meditated.
